Before winter really sets in, here’s a simple five-minute check you can do yourself to make sure everything’s working as it should.

  • 1. Turn your heating on for around 20 minutes so it reaches full temperature.

    2. Check each radiator: Feel the top, bottom, and middle.

    3. What you’re looking for:

    i. Even warmth = all good.

    ii. Cool spots in the middle or bottom = possible sludge build-up.

    iii. Gurgling or knocking = trapped air or sediment.

If most radiators heat fine but a few feel cooler, you may only need a chemical clean not a full flush.
That involves adding special cleaning chemicals to break down the sludge and refresh the water in your system.
