This Is What's Hiding Inside Your Heating System:
One of our engineers pulled this magnetic filter from a customer's system this week — one of the worst we've seen this year.

It's magnetite — rust particles that build up in every heating system. Your filter catches it before it reaches your boiler. But once it's caked like this, it stops protecting you — and the sludge flows straight through.
Signs your filter might be full
Radiators cold at the bottom
Rooms slow to heat up
Banging noises from the boiler
Bills creeping up
Our advice: give your filter a clean

Same filter after a proper clean — and it makes a real difference. Summer is the perfect time to do it, while the heating's off:
Turn off your heating and let the system cool
Close the valves either side of the filter
Open it up, remove the magnet sheath, and rinse the sludge away
Refit, reopen the valves, and check for drips
Most filters (like MagnaClean or Fernox) are designed to be opened easily. If yours looks anything like the photo above, it's overdue.
Just a bit of honest advice from your local heating team. A clean filter means hotter radiators, lower bills, and a boiler that lasts longer. Your system will thank you come winter.
